Go Fish !
The ds was a clownfish so he had to dress up as a clown - there were sharks, and an eel, seahorses (cowboys & cowgirls, crabs, an angel fish, starfish, polka-dotted zebra fish ! It was great - I was skeptical since I was only told Tuesday night by the ds that he needed a clown costume for the next day for dres rehearsal ... which i didn't have time to "make" ... but he looked wicked awesome last night !
*sigh* T G I F !
Tomorrow I am having a "redneck weiner" dinner party ... mostly booze and a couple friends - but we always have what I call redneck weiners, beans, brownies, beer, booze, and chips & dip ... we are going to go and have ourselves a pedicure first, then meet up at my house for some friendly fun ! I'm excited ...
and since we are talking about hotdogs, redneck style, it brings me to think that in 2 weeks I am going back home for something we have dubbed the redneck reunion ... only it's not the 2nd Annual, but take 2 !!! It will be so much fun ! More on that later though !

Cleaning house ...
What do you say to a clean sweep of the MFY’s this weekend? The only word that comes to mind is Wow.
Living in WI, I do not get NESN so it’s hard to watch games … but let me tell ya, I was glued to all news Red Sox !!!
Last night I think I was actually sweating. Seriously. That was too close for comfort for me, but I just kept praying out loud – “please Lord, let them win, please.” It seemed to work!
I hope we can do the same thing to the MFY’s this weekend at the Toilet. I am SO keeping my fingers crossed … anyhow, it Sunday was definitely a day for rejoicing !
It was a beautiful weekend in Novyland. Nice, high temps … I took the DS to the park on Saturday and then we went to the drive-in for lunch and root beer floats.
Sunday we did some housework and rested and just spent time together … the weekend went to quickly …
The ds is counting down days to the Red Sox / Twins series … 12 more days he says … he’s very excited … he’s going to play catch all weekend long so he’ll be ready for when we sit on the Home Run Porch at the ‘Dome … he’s funny … we also bought 8 packs of baseball cards on Friday … we got 1 Twins playa, Joe Nathan and 1 RS playa, Tek … my man ! LOL !

Fantabulous Win ...
YAY TIMLIN !!!
YAY PAPELBON !!!
I love this team !
Also - please note that in the top of the 9th, the Indians are beating the MFY's ! What a good day ... hope it stays that way !
* Top of 9th: Blake safe at first on throwing error by third baseman A.Rodriguez
** Update: Dammit ! Did I jinx the Indians ? Those friggin MFY's took the lead - I'm sorry!
Horrific scare aftermath ...
I felt this one yesterday. Driving home from work, a special report that our local university had found a note about a bomb being in the residence hall and it would go off in the late afternoon.
WHY? Why would someone do such a horrible thing after what the country, the world, just suffered in Virginia?
I'm sorry - this is just unacceptable ...

Easily excitable ...
17 days. That's all.
*sigh*
If I could just pack and move to Boston, or even be closer than the Midwest, maybe it wouldn't be this bad. Now I have to fly to Boston to see them and it's not cheap to fly to Beantown. I was going to fly to Seattle this summer and it was less than HALF of the flight to Boston ... JEEPERS !
But, a Fenway experience is like no other ...

Novy's Red Sox games ...
The ds is very excited about going - I showed him where our seats are and this morning he was all excited, "how many more days until we see the Red Sox Mom ?" ... he is DEFINATELY my son ! That is how I get ... and plus, well ... I Love the Red Sox !

Sadness at Virginia Tech
This is more and more common in the past 5 years, I just do not understand what these gunmen are thinking when they take all of these innocent lives. They then, in most cases, take their own lives after they have caused all of this irreplaceable damage to hundreds, thousands of people ...
To those familes touched by today's tragedy, I'm so sorry for your loss ...
Relaxing Weekend ?
I did a lot this weekend.
I came to work on Saturday for about 5 hours ... It was hot in the building and I couldn't take much more.
I rearranged my living room - my arms are a little sore from moving the entertainment center, tv, dvd shelves, couch, mirror, building a new shelf, recliner (things heavy, it's a massaging one so it's got a motor in it), and the mirror above my couch - that beast is HEAVY.
Watched the wonderful Boston Boys of Baseball play the Angels ... Good Job Curt Schilling !!! great game I thought ...
When the ds came home from his dad's on Sunday, I took him to a movie - he picked Firehouse Dog . It was a cute movie - very much for kids of course - but I truly enjoyed it ...
Then we went and did some shopping, and went to dinner at a BBQ place ... YUM!
AND, the DS did go to the Twins / Devil Rays game with his dad on Saturday - the Twins got a win ! The DS also got a foul ball and got to shake hands with Juan Rincon who then went out and pitched right after that ! He had a good time ... even though there were no pictures taken ... I will have to remedy that when we go to our game!

Meeting up with old friends ...
She went out last night, ran into an old friend ... had a nice time ... blah blah blah ...
I just want to give her a shout out and say "Girl, you had a fun time and meeting up with a friend from the past is amazingly funny ... I am glad you a had a fun time"
I could SO tell you had a fun night by the sound of your voice ...
** Looking forward to all of us having a weekend of drunken fun soon **

Wake is on the mound ...
PLEASE, oh PLEASE ... can we get some run support for my deary Timmy?
Is it just coincidence that the rest of the team is not on the top of their game when he is pitching, or does the BIG GUY have it out for Wake?
There are presents for our boys tonight if they bring in lotsa lotsa runs ... I promise.

Fenway Opener ...
Top of the 3rd and it is 7-0 Red Sox !
WOO HOO !!!
JD Drew just homered ... well, in the 2nd he did ... but you knew what I meant ...
update:
11-1 in the top of the 5th ... I love high scoring games ... well, when the RS score high ... Beckett is looking mighty fine out there today !
Home ...
The DS rode from my mom's house to work with her, so they could have a little extra bonding time before we had to leave. Then we hit the open highway and came home ... it was a long drive, and I was wicked tired ... I get sad when I leave "my" home to come back to "our" new home ... it's been 5 years ... but I still miss my mom like crazy.
The DS is going to go with his father this weekend I believe - to a Twins game ... they are only playing Tampa Bay so he's not as excited as when we are going to see the Red Sox vs the Twins in May ...
Happy Tuesday!

Easter ...
the easter bunny brought me 2 new cd's and some patio lights ...
my mom got new scrapbooking supplies - she has just recently joined the scrapping cult ... she's really good too !
the ds got a new movie ... it's an animated one about baseball ... only it's the mfy's !!! he told my mom he wouldn't be able to take it home cause we don't allow MFY stuff at our house ... WHAT A SMART KID ! ... but, i told him that the easter bunny made a horrible mistake, but he could still keep it. He wants to give it to a friend ... he's definately my son !
I am not looking forward to tomorrow ... I don't want to leave ...
music ...
i even have a recording of me, at 2 years old - almost 26 years to the day - of my grandparents and i at the hunting shack ... it's a tear jerker to hear my grampa tell me he loves me whenever i want, since he died 14 years ago ...

Are we back to this again?
First win for Dice-K !!
WAY TO GO D.M. !!!!
And I would like to say to the crowd of 23,170 who booed Matsuzaka in the first when he stepped behind the mound and started doing half jumping-jacks, snapping his heals together in the air. PISS OFF ASSHOLES ! You aint the MFY's ... if anyone can Boo my beloved Red Sox it's the MFYF's ... so, Go.To.Hell. - - - thanks !
Wow, D-Mat threw 74 of 108 pitches for strikes and he retired 10 batters in a row ... Hey, you have a fan here ... I swear to you ... LOL !
And ... let us not forget about dear Papelbon. He struck out two of three batters for his first save !!! Yay !!! Perfect ... He is going to be one of the best closers of his time ... no doubt about it ...
So, I am happy to say we, the Red Sox, took the series ... 2 W's under our belt ...
GO SOX !
Thank You !
BTW, what the hell was the temperature in Kansas City last night? Probably not as cold as I am here in Northern Minnesota this morning (3 Degrees) ... I digress ... (update: it was 42 degrees last night and dropped into the 30's)
Beckett ... You promised me (see said promise HERE ) and you came through ... I LOVE YOU ! Well, in the most loving way a baseball fan can love a young pitcher ... You know what I mean ! Right?
Youky - 2 run homer in the 7th ... I love that you come through for us ... thank you ...
Well, another game this afternoon ... I am almost wishing for a chilly afternoon as you boys in uniform kept it warm last night ... Let's have another win shall we ...

WTF Johnny ... sexy calves ...
In case you want to know - dear Johnny addressed his cramping calves, as he left the game yesterday. Said he had this problem before in Boston, has it in airplanes, it's a cold weather problem, and he said---
"That's the price I pay for having such SEXY CALVES."
FTLOG !
And ... honey - Jason Giambi did not "GET SEXY" at the plate. Sweetie - he will never get sexy ... EVER ... unless you like that look ... you know the constant look of sweat ... yuck. Sorry Jason ... no offense ... just ... just ... it's not doing it for me ... you are never going to be the porn star you want to be.
Johnny Dearest ... Please leave the sexy remarks to Justin Timberlake ...

Who are you ?
Take THE QUIZ to see which Grey's personality you are most similar too ...
Share your answers !
Courtesy of my good buddy Eoyore !
I like this quote best of all ...
Dan Owen: Boston Red Sox - This is a two team race, and anybody who says otherwise obviously doesn't follow baseball. The Yankees and the Red Sox are going to go at it yet again, and this year I think the Bo Sox have the upper hand. They easily have the better starting pitching, and I'd say that Jon Papelbon is a better closer than Mariano Rivera. I know, gasp! But Rivera isn't invincible like he used to be, and I just don't see him being as good as the young gun. Thank god the Sox took their heads out of the ground to see that they really don't need Papelbon in the rotation. The Yankees are probably a slightly better offensive team, but pitching wins championships, so the Red Sox will win the division by a healthy 5 games. But here's to Toronto doing something awesome, since I'm pretty sure everyone is sick of this rivalry by now.

Warm temps ...
The DS had his end of season skating party at a roller rink ... I always have a good time with the kids, so we were busy playing the arcade games and winning lots of tickets to get prizes. The kids are so funny - they trusted me to hold all of their tickets ... and we cashed them in as a group - that way whatever tickets I won, they could split between them. They did pretty well too ... We had a blast spending them ...
I brought a picture of the team, and I had picked up a mat for it ... and all of kids that were there signed it ... It looks so cute in the frame - I told them that if they ever make it big in the NHL, I am the lucky one to have gotten their first autograph !
Another nice day today, I am wearing sandals ... then it may start to cool down. That's ok, I live with it ...

Day of rest ?
I had to work a few hours today - and I have a whole big long list of stuff I want to accomplish today at home.
- Clean out the laundry room
- Clean out the garage
- Do laundry
- Wash Kitchen Floor
- Dust Living Room
- Clean out my closet
- Clean out the DS's closet
- Clean out "spare" kitchen closet - where I store the vaccuum & mop & ironing board amongst everything else ...
Well, the list is big enough - so I will stop there - even though I have more TO DO's on the brain !

Thank You Schill !
I am so relieved ... I mean, don't get me wrong, I wanted to see him strut his stuff in the starting rotation, but I have much more confidence in him closing those games ...
YAY !
Lord, please don't tease me like this ...
PLEASE BE TRUE !
Please do NOT tease me in such an awful, tormenting way ...
This haunts me at night ... I swear to you ... I worry about who on Earth could possibly fill this man's shoes, and there is nobody ...
Also, please note that Reb of the wonderful REBSOX has made an appearance today ... NOW I feel like it's baseball season with her back ...

Whenever I think of him, I always think of seeing him last August at Fenway - after the game - everyone is driving around in these fancy-schmancy vehicles ... and away drives Wells in a beat up red truck ... I waved, he waved - then he yelled at some prick on the street cause the guy was being, well, a prick ... LOL !
good memories ...

Top 9 moments in Red Sox History ...

On this date in baseball ...
March 15, 2000:
In spring training action, Red Sox star Pedro Martinez and five relievers combined on a perfect exhibition game beating the Blue Jays 5-0.
Quote from Mark Lemke:
"What really catches your eye is how small Pedro is. you go up against Roger Clemens, even if you've never seen him before, and you say, 'This guy looks overpowering.' You wouldn't say that about Pedro Martinez."

The Niffer-ella ...
So ... Miss Niffer ... she's raggin on me today ... I'm gonna punch her in the face ...
*giggle, giggle*
I told her I was going to write a little something about her ... but ... it might make her cry, so I am opting to be like Missouri, and I choose to not participate.
~ ~ ~ sorry ~ ~ ~ LMAO ~ ~ ~
this post means nothing to anyone other than Niffer ...
More on the pathetic A-Rah drama ...
oh ... but I digress ... this is the pathetic drama I was referring to ...

My Papel-hon ...
I especially like this question ...
How well do you think Jonathon Papelbon will adapt to starting? Do you expect him to take the entire season to adjust?
-- Morag M., United Kingdom
This is definitely one of the most interesting issues surrounding this year's team. Papelbon was so electric in the closer role last year that you can only wonder if he will have the same type of dominance as a starter. The Red Sox are also very mindful of Papelbon's health after his right shoulder scare of a year ago. The last time the Red Sox made such a significant closer-starter transition with one of their starters was with Derek Lowe in 2002. Lowe responded by going 21-8 that year and throwing a no-hitter. The jury is still out on Papelbon.
As Spring Training moves on ... I keep thinking that I want my Papel-baby to hold off on starting, and concentrate on closing ... I want to have confidence that when we need a STRONG closer, we can count on Jonathon being the GO-TO-MAN !!!

2nd Place ...
We had an out of town tournament this weekend, we played 3 games on Saturday, we took 2 and lost 1. We then won our game on Sunday to clinch 2nd place. We are moving up in the world, the kids were pleased previously with their 3rd place trophy, so you can only imagine how happy they were yesterday.
It was an emotional day as a hockey mom. I love this sport. I love watching my son skate. I love all the kids on the team, they are all so great. Let's not forget the little friends I have made, being the siblings of the ds's teammates. I will see them all again at the end of season banquet and the kids skating party.
These great kids presented each of the parents with a beautiful rose yesterday after their win, and thanked us, the parents, for being there for all their games & practices, cheering loud and often, and just being a great support system for them. I was teary eyed.
Our 3 coaches all gave a post-game speech yesterday - congratulating the kids with how far they had come this season, and how proud they were of each and every one of them. They went on to say the same of us ... I am so proud of the coaches we had this year ... they taught the kids good sportsmanship, helped them excel in their skills, and showed them you can have fun out there ...
*sigh* Until next season ... it's only 6 1/2 months away !

Happy Weekend !
Wishing everyone a joyous weekend ...
and to my Enclavian Sistahs: Jebus does things for a reason ... remember that !
Hansen is # 9 on Hot List ...
9. Craig Hansen, RP, Red Sox
Age: 23
Hansen showed solid command in the minors, notched a 1.82 ERA in 59.2 innings and coughed up not a single home run. To indulge in understatement for a moment, things did not go so swimmingly after his promotion to Boston. In '07, however, Hansen figures to make strides, and, should Joel Pineiro flop in his new role, he might he even wind up with some save opportunities. Long-term, he remains a highly promising young reliever.
Good Luck, make RSN proud ...

Brady's Ladies = Fertile ????
however ... it's not confirmed ...
Price of Fame ...
Word out of Brookline is that the Red Sox $52 million mound man Daisuke Matsuzaka is moving into the haute ’hood. The Japanese pitchman, with wife Tomoyo Shibata and their 1-year-old daughter, will join team brass John Henry, Larry Lucchino and Terry Francona in the official suburb of the Boston Red Sox prior to opening day. It’s supposed to be a big secret, but we do know that Dice-K is renting a luxe crib - that just got a kitchen makeover - in a gated community with 24-hour security. The rent, we’re told, is around $10,000 per month. Which seems like a bargain in Brookline! But don’t put the coffee cake in the oven just yet. Word is that Dice-K and T., a former Nippon TV personality dubbed “Rockets” by the Japanese press, plan to stay on the DL in Boston. The Matsuzakas, who are the celebrity equivalent of Brad and Angelina in Japan, will be camera-shy outside of the park - especially if they are with their daughter. “They are adamant that the baby never be photographed or made available to the public,” a Red Sox insider told the Track. “Tomoyo was a member of the Japanese media and she knows the score.”

Hockey Tournament Update !
The kids won their first game on Friday ... and they lost on Saturday ... but we rocked on Sunday ... we took home 3rd place ... the first time these kids have won an actual trophy ... they were so excited ... I was so excited ...
The cheering section for these kids this weekend was unbelievable ... it was amazing ... the kids appreciated it too, as they turned to us on Sunday and clapped at us !
*sigh* It was a great weekend for these boys and girls to bond ... on and off the ice ...
Snowy Weather ...
The ds was shoveling the driveway yesterday cause I was sick ... and some guy plowing out a neighborhood business took pity on him and plowed us out too ...
THANK YOU MYSTERY PLOW DRIVER !

Mite Hockey !
My parents are driving the 6 hours down to stay with us ... it should be a fun time ... I am excited ... the car is packed, I bought fun foods to snack on ... we are set ...
My cousin, D, was in the hospital yesterday ... she gave birth to her first child, baby P ... she had a struggle with it, after 24 hours of being in labor, and 2 hours of pushing, the baby had turned and was now face up and at an angle ... they tried to turn him, but couldn't, so they had to do a C-Section ... and that didn't go well ... now she has some other problems. I hope this experience won't deter her from having more children in the future ... she's young and she's going to be a great mom ...
When my ds was a baby, I went back to college. My cousin(s) mentioned above were home schooled, so they would take care of the baby ds for me while I was in class ... she used to tell me that he was all the birth control she would ever need ... now look at her ! she's a mom herself.

Manny

But I say ... AT LEAST HE WILL BE THERE ... He's Manny ... Give the guy a break ...
The way this guy hits ... I'm okay with him being late ... like I said, he's Manny ... I am just glad the guy is on our team ... he's been conditioning himself in the off season ...
*sigh* He's Manny ... we expect this kind of stuff.
The smell of sweat ...

in Spring Training ... must be a great thing ... I wish I was there ... seeing my boys in uniform back to playing the game I love watching them play ...
I am hoping that Coco is going to have a much better, injury-free season ... I didn't give him much credit last year, since he took my former beloved's position, but I realize it's not his fault ... This year, I won't judge him for that ... I'll judge him by what he does ...
And clearly, this is something we have all read or heard, it's from Sports Illustrated and I don't mind reading it over and over again ...

~ Relaxation ~
Friday night we had hockey practice ... I was kind of depressed about it. I was thinking to myself "I am a young single woman, and what am I doing on a Friday night? Taking my ds to hockey practice." I must add, we moms that were there, had a lot of fun ... we laughed and giggled ... great time ... if only for an hour.
I stayed in bed late on Saturday ... the ds fended for himself and played one of his new PS2 games ... then we went shopping and I took him out to lunch ...
I watched 2 movies this weekend ... The Departed and Flags of our Fathers ... both were really, really good ...
Sunday ... the ds had a hockey game ... they won, 5-1 !!! I was in a bit of a daze though on Sunday, and don't think my mind was really on the game. I was drifting off into Novyland a little bit.
So, we have practice 3 times this week then we are off to our tournament ... the kids are excited cause we are staying in a hotel with an indoor water park ... not just a pool! I am going to bring the PS2 with just in case one of the TV's in our suite will let us plug into it ... that way some of the kids can play. Hope my parents don't mind ... it's not going to be a relaxing weekend by any means ... but I am anxious to see my folks ... they need to move closer to me.

I'm digging this guy ...
In other news ... Foulke Retires ... I saw him pitch this past summer ... and he still had talent - and he'll forever be one of the 2004 WS champs ... but I didn't like him much ... Good Luck to him in whatever he decides to do ...
Thank Goodness it is Friday !

~ Shopping ~

I AM SO EXCITED ... I can wear it all year, and not just in March ...
I also ordered a new t-shirt and a pennant for the ds's room ... he loves those things ...
**** Update ****
Just got an email ... my order shipped an hour ago !
Unresolved issues for Spring Training ...
On Manny:
"Manny state of mind: Is he happy? Is he miserable? Will he blow off the Red Sox's first official workout a week from Thursday? Or will he show up and say, "Hey, man, I never wanted to be traded. I'm ready to play hard! Whatever my team needs!"
All right, maybe that's too much to ask. In any case, Ramirez was in Brazil last week. Neither he nor his agent, Greg Genske, has commented this off-season. The only development is that the Red Sox again tried — and again failed — to trade him.
Smart move. Ramirez's value in combination with David Ortiz remains immense. Their production enables the Sox to lower expectations on players such as J.D. Drew and entertain trades for declining veterans such as Todd Helton.
Ramirez and Ortiz shield all."
On some MFY's:
"The A-Rod/Torre/Jeter glove triangle: When last we left them, Alex Rodriguez was batting eighth, Joe Torre was on the verge of getting fired and Derek Jeter was fiddling as A-Rod burned.
It's time for this nonsense to end.
Torre, the Yankees' manager, all but isolated Rodriguez last season even though protecting players is one of his greatest strengths. Jeter, the team captain, spoke volumes by saying practically nothing in A-Rod's defense.
Sorry, that's not the way a team operates, no matter how justified the Yankees' frustration with Rodriguez might be.
Of course, it would be helpful if A-Rod stopped the drama. He shouldn't need a support group. He's supposed to be a great player."
On Red Sox Pitching:
"Red Sox's closer: Why don't the Sox just trade for Chad Cordero already? If the Nationals want two top prospects, give 'em two top prospects. Cordero is young — he does not turn 25 until March — and three years away from free agency.
While closers often come from odd places, the Sox are kidding themselves if they think they can invent a Jonathan Papelbon two years in a row. Maybe Joel Pineiro or Mike Timlin or Deven Hansack will be the answer. But don't count on it.
The condition of Papelbon's shoulder dictates that he work more regularly as a starter. The Sox need not rush their decision — the last two World Series champions, the 2005 White Sox and '06 Cardinals, did not settle on their respective closers, Bobby Jenks and Adam Wainwright, until late in the season. But Cordero sure would make sense."
And once again ... more BS nonsense about Clemens ...
"Roger Clemens' decision: The annual guessing game will continue all spring. And on Opening Day, Clemens still will be flirting with the Astros, Red Sox and Yankees."

The Verndale Song ...
Recently Jerry was at the local rodeo and hopped up on stage to share a song he had wrote ... it goes a little something like this ... notice the crowd singing along ...
I'm so proud ... at one point, he was starting a band ... and I promised I was going to quit my job to be their manager ... It could still happen !

I don't understand ...
so the playdowns this weekend ... we are in first place ... and then we have to play an A team ... ? ... WTF ?!?!?!
We played HARD ... but lost 3-4 ... we tried so hard! The ds was on defense and he was CLEANING HOUSE with all the pucks he was shooting down the ice ... it was a fun game ... and the kids played with their hearts ... no penalties for us - 6 for the other guys ... that has to mean something ...
The other kids were apparently talking smack out there too ... not very sportsmanlike ...
So ... we still have 3 more tournaments before the season is over ... as Gloria Gaynor said " I WILL SURVIVE" !

Poor, poor DS ...
I am going to leave now to take him home ... I worry ... especially since we have so much riding on this upcoming HOCKEY FILLED weekend ...
Maybe he has nerves since I explained to him what could happen if they win tomorrow ... I would prefer that than him getting truly sick ...
Have a nice weekend everyone ...

Anna Nicole ...
I have seen her a lot recently on Entertainment Tonight ... and you would swear the woman was constantly high ... so I am hoping that drugs had nothing to do with her death, especially after having lost her son a few short months ago ... I also hope her TrimSpa lawsuit had nothing to do with it as well ... I am sure the stress can be overwhelming ...
I just feel so sorry for her little girl ... who will never know her mother ... that is the part that saddens me ...

Boys will be boys ...
Way to represent C.H. !
J.D.'s response to losing ... "I'm just not as good as I thought I was," Damon said. "These other guys, they've been practicing. I have three kids. While they've been practicing, I've been changing diapers."
Baby ...
The weather in the MidWest is unbearable ... I kid you not !
School was cancelled cause we are to be at -30 degrees today ... and I hate it ...
Well ... I must admit, I was extremely bummed about the Bears losing yesterday ... It wasn't so much that Manning WON it, it's that Grossman LOST it ... anyway ... Congrats to my friend Mellie ... as she loves da Colts ...
Uh ... is it TRUCK DAY yet ????

On the mound ...
I liked this part of the article:
"Joining Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon and Tim Wakefield in the likely Boston rotation, Matsuzaka will find himself in the company of a remarkable array of arms. "
No kidding ... Wicked Remarkable ... I am counting on it being the best rotation in the American League !
