Adios ?

2008 All Star Game will be held in the home of the MFY's ...

"... great honor for a team's home stadium to serve as host for the All-Star Game, and the Yankees are proud and delighted to have been selected...," Steinbrenner said. "It will be one of many historic moments in the 2008 season as we say goodbye to a great facility."

Eh ... Whatever ... We'll see ...

So ... I have always thought that the MFY stadium looks like a toilet ... heard it smells like one too ... so what is the new one going to look like? A man's urinal ? Bidet? It would need a fountain in Center Field ... next to Johnny for the whole Bidet thing to work ... it could happen !

I shouldn't judge ... I have never been there ... and probably never will ... but, BUT, I could make it in 2008 ... if I felt the absolute need to be there in it's final days.

I doubt it.

Schilling wants to stick it ...

to King George !

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ... Such joy I have in saying that ...

Schilling announced that he does NOT want to retire after the 2007 season ... he would like to stay in Boston ... and WILL NOT GO TO THE MFY !

*sigh* I didn't know it was Christmas again ... ! ! !

Wishing everyone a better day than I am having !

GOAL !

Well, the ds had a busy weekend of hockey once again ...

We had a 90 minute practice on Saturday and an out of town game on Sunday.

We stopped at the store Saturday night and picked up some snacks to share with the team - just because we like to do things like that.

The ds had his first goal too ... I got teary eyed ... he was so happy ... he turned around to make sure I saw it.

He took a shot, blocked by the goalie. Fellow team member gets the rebound, blocked by the goalie ... the ds goes for the puck, skates behind the net, and stuffs it in the corner ... SCORE !

He got to keep the puck, and they had written the date, his name, location, and that it was his first goal ...

*sigh* I was so excited ...

AND ... my parents went ice fishing in our fish house, up by Canada ... my mom scored a 31 inch Walleye ... it's getting mounted ... she is so proud ...

Image has been modified to protect the innocent !

On this day in Baseball ...

~ 1960 ~

Due to his fear of flying, Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Jensen announces his retirement. The 1958 M.V.P. will later change his mind.

If you can't say anything nice ...

DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL !

So far so good ...

Well, it is now 11:00 am ... and I am not very crabby. Yet.

Yesterday I was the worlds bitchiest person ... I swear I was and I am not sugar-coating it.

If I had to wear a button to warn others of my mood yesterday it would be:

But ... so far so good !!!

Beautiful Words ...

A wonderful quote by John Cheever

"All literary men are Red Sox fans. To be a Yankee fan in literary society is to endanger your life."

This was on my day to day calendar from 'Niffer ...

1/24/1980

Nelson Doubleday and Fred Wilpon purchased the Mets for an estimated $21.1 million. The price tag is the highest amount ever paid for a baseball franchise.

I don't get it ...

I am super annoyed right now.

I despise the school nurse.

The ds has a cough. A simple cough. I sent him to school with 3 cough drops today to keep in his pocket. THREE.

The nurse calls and left me a message that I need to sign a medical release to allow the ds to use a cough drop.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?

What a joke. It's not like he is going to overdose on them because he has 3. THREE.

Nothing anybody says is going to change my mind that this is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever friggin heard.

Winter Sports ...

The ds was busy with hockey this past weekend. I spent 14 hours at the arena this weekend. I was busy working penalty boxes, concession stands, and cheering for the ds's team ... It was a lot of fun.

I think spending so many hours in the cold made MY cold a little worse ... the cough is back and the ds is getting sick now too. Poor kid ... He slept 16 hours last night.

The ds had on his Schilling jersey on Sunday. One of the coaches made a comment about it, and went on to say that 2 of his sons are big Red Sox fans ... I saw them yesterday and we got to talking (they are only 4 years old) and asked who their favorite player was/is. It was Johnny Damon -- Just like me !!! We high-fived ... They like Big Papi now ... I am going to bring in my pictures from the MFY/Red Sox game ... they couldn't believe I got to see them play each other ... they were so excited ... Maybe I will have to invite them over for lunch one day and they can see my life size Johnny stand up thing ...

*SIGH* I am so ready to see my boys back in uniform ... Is it Spring Training yet ?

Monday, January 22, 2007

Whatevah !

Well, Mr. I-Look-Like-A-Thumb has finally beaten the Patriots in the playoff's for the spot at the Super Bowl ...

WHATEVER !

I don't care ... New England played a good game, and I am sad to see them NOT going, but Thumb Head deserves this chance. I hope he chokes when he gets there, like A-Rod ...

Man of honor ...

It's a sad day. Trot Nixon is no longer a member of the Red Sox. He is on his way to Cleveland.

Trot, I will miss you ... and always love ya ! You are forever special as being one of the 2004 WS Champs ... I wish you could have retired in a Red Sox uniform ...

Suffering ...

On Saturday 1/6/07 I came down with the flu. I was sick for about a week ... I am now suffering from a cold.

When will it end ?

I am going to go have some damn soup.

Is it SPRING yet ? Or Spring Training ?

Wasteful ...

Last night, I decided to take on the daunting task of cleaning out my pantry. It was a huge job to take on, but I got it about 85% complete. I need to finish the top shelf where I store the lightbulbs and paper products along with some misc kitchen items to big for the drawer.

I emptied out a lot of food that was past its "BEST IF USED BY" date ... that bothers me if it's past that date. I threw away cake mixes, frosting, soup, crackers, cereal, mac & cheese, canned veggies, stove top stuffing, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips ... etc ...

I had 4 big boxes and 3 garbage bags full of food that I threw out. Some of it was just boxes that were almost empty of rice krispie bars so I just kept the individual packages. I think I threw out about $300.00 worth of food.

Tonight the ds and I are going to go to the grocery store to stock it back up ! LOL !

It was nice to have a night off from hockey - it makes it for a long week or month or SEASON ! We have practice on Friday and 2 games Saturday, and 1 on Sunday. I also have to work the penalty box and the concession stand for a couple of other games each day ... *Note to self - DRESS WARM !

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

Too Cute !

I watched this ... without the sound ... and I think it is just adorable !

Pain.

Well, the ds's team won their hockey game last night ... 2-1.

I am so frustrated with him right now, I just don't know what to do next. His behavior is getting worse. We discussed yesterday about how I wanted and expected him to behave when we got to the arena, no running around, no yelling - basically - just staying calm. I explained you can still have fun and enjoy yourself and not be naughty. He PROMISED me that he would behave ... and the minute he walked in the arena door he disappointed me ... again.

When the game was over, I got all of his gear off and put away in his bag. I told him when we left I would buy him a soda for the ride home. Instead, he grabs his wallet and starts to walk away. I said "Wait, get your stuff ..." He just looked at me, and then ran off to the concession stand. I am left in the locker room with his jacket, hat, the blanket, my pocketbook, his HUGE hockey bag, and his stick. I was livid. I carried his stuff to the warming area/concession stand and threw it on the floor behind him. I said "here is your stuff, bring it to the car ..." and I walked to the parking lot. I was fuming !!! Then he complained I was a bad mom for doing that ...

What do I do now ? I have taken away his PS2 for a day here and a day there for every occurence. Do I go to a week each time ? Do I also take away his DVD player or just unplug his TV in his room altogether ? I am at my wits end. I am so sad by his lack of listening skills and the fact that he does not appreciate any of the things I do for him. How do I talk to this sweet 7 year old boy, he doesn't care to hear anything ... :(

anyway ... WMP sucks ... and I wish he wasn't a member of the Red Sox.

There, I said it ... now I feel a little better.

Cold Day In ...

the Midwest ! You all thought I was going to say hell ... didn't you ? Be honest ... it's ok !

I woke up this morning, took a shower, got ready for work ... walked from the kitchen to the garage, got in the car, started it up, backed out ... and drove the ds to school. That is when I had to get out of the car to sign him into his early morning program ... and BRRRRRR ... was it cold. With the windchill it is -15 degrees ... PLUS we got some snow yesterday, which we haven't had all year ! I HATE THE WINTER ... I'm moving !

So, tonight we have to drive 25 miles or so for another hockey game. I hate driving on the interstate, at night, and especially in cold weather ! Oh, big deal ... I can do it ... I'll have to put on my glasses though ! WOW. That made me feel old.

When I get home tonight, I am gonna put my jammies on and snuggle up in bed ... after sitting in a cold hockey arena for an hour and a half, on top of the outside weather ... I want to get warm!

Moving on to On this date in baseball ...

2003

Gary Carter becomes the first, and perhaps the only player to wear an Expos hat on his plaque when he is inducted into the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown in July. Although the former Montreal catcher had expressed his desire to go in with a Mets logo, the team he is employed by and was part of its 1986 World Series Championship, the Hall of Fame makes the final decision.

On this date in baseball ...

1934 ....

Babe Ruth accepts a cut of $17,000 and signs a 1934 contract the MFY, I mean Yankees, for $36,000

Whatever.

Bite Me.

I don't like the MFY ...

Games people play ...

This weekend was a busy one for us ... we had 2 hockey games this weekend ...

Friday night they lost to an INCREDIBLE team 7-0 ... but they played hard and skated with these guys the entire game ... We were all proud of them !

Sunday we traveled out of town and the kids won 6-0 ! The goalie was amazing ... We have 2 goalies, a boy and a girl, and let me tell ya ... this girl is amazing ... they are both great, but she made some tremendous saves ... WAY TO GO !

We have another game out of town on Tuesday and then a home tournament this weekend ... I need to call the ds's paternal relatives and let them know times so they can finally come watch a game or two !!! He will be so excited ...

Way to go Patriots ... what an amazing 4th quarter come back ...

The ds and I played a little bit of PS2 last night - we have this Sing Star game ... and we have SO MUCH FUN ... It's like Karaoke, but you can play it back, and tells you if you hit the notes and such .... it's a riot ...

NOT A LIE !!!

This is me in a nutshell ...

Thursday, January 11, 2007

gibberish ...

So ... of course there is more WONDERFUL gossip that ROCKET man could come back to Boston ... I would love to see him finish his career where it all began ... as a Red Sox playa !

Grey's Anatomy is on tonight ...we have had 6 freakin weeks of repeats ... and I need my fix ! It's like drugs ... but only I don't do drugs ... but it's kinda the same ... isn't it ???

My fellow EB's and I are starting talks of the 2nd Annual Enclavian Slumber Party / 2007 ! We are going to meet up in Boston again and attend some games at Fenway. We are giving ourselves an extra day or two to spend with each other because we felt that time was to short last summer ... Maybe I will fly in, jaunt down to the Cape for a couple days, and then head back to the city for a few days of baseball, pampering, and alcohol !

*sigh* I am excited already and it's not even set in stone ... no tickets have been bought or anything ... but I can't wait to spend some time with my good friends.

Today in baseball ...

1950 !

The Indians dismiss coach George Susce when his son signs with the Red Sox.

Morals ...

I am disturbed today ...

I once feared this, and now know it to be true.

The Privacy Has Been Breached.

Nothing is private anymore ... I mean ... the damn article in the paper said that the government no longer needs a warrant to open someone's mail ... and email isn't private, that's for damn sure.

I AM FRIGGIN PISSED !

Back ...

I'm back to work ... I left early on Monday and didn't come in on Tuesday. The flu is done with I think, but I sound horrible ... really raspy ... my throat hurts a little ... but I sound worse than I am.

The next 2 weeks are busy hockey days for us ... the ds has like 7 games + practices in these 14 days ... including a tournament ... wow-za !!! Wish us luck ...

While I was home sick, I catched up on some movies I hadn't yet seen ... The Bourne Identity & The Bourne Supremacy ... Love, Actually ... all were good ... I loved the BOURNE movies ... I was surpised how much I did like them ... I wish there was a 3rd !

... ... sigh ... ...

Monday, January 08, 2007

tired already ...

What a boring weekend. I did nothing. N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Seriously.

Friday night I got my hair cut. It's to the top of my shoulders ... and curly today !

Saturday morning - I read an entire book in bed.

Saturday afternoon I went to a hockey game of some of the ds's friends ... they are on a different team than he is ... so I went and cheered them on.

Saturday evening I got sick ... there I said it ... I was sick.

Sunday the ds had a hockey game, but I just couldn't bring myself to go in fear that I would get sick while I was there ... sorry buddy, I hate missing a game !!!

We watched the Patriots / Jets game ... WOO HOO !!! Go Pat's !!! We also watched the Eagles / Giants game ... the ds was VERY happy that the Eagles won.

I then stayed up and watched Desperate Houswives and Brothers & Sisters on ABC ...

I am not feeling all that great today ... am even thinking about going home early ... I just don't feel good.

*sigh*

I love ...

baseball.

To be specific, I love the Red Sox. I can't wait much longer for the daily Spring Training reports ... I am perusing everyone's RS blogs, reading their opinions on what they hope for in the 2007 season ... and it just makes me long for our boys more ...

The ds got a nice Schilling jersey for Christmas ... and he's been wearing it a lot ... and he always has to wear it along with his B hat when he plays MLB on PS2 ... when Tessie comes on, he turns it up and sings !!!! I hope to get him to a Red Sox game this year ... I am going to try and take him to Minneapolis in May for a game or 2 ... there is also a series in Chicago in August that would work for us too ...

This summer I am PLANNING on Red Sox games in:
  1. Boston
  2. Minneapolis
  3. Chicago

I am also thinking about a weekend trip in May to Seattle - and there happens to be a home game while I am there ... with the MFY ...

ROAR !

I sometimes talk smack ... and ... I get pissy ... same w/ my good buddy 'Niffer ...

So ... with that being said ... we started a fund ... the Meanie Monies Fund ...

Everytime we say something bad about someone (not including each other ... ) we pay a quarter !

We will then decide what we want to do with our pile of change !!!!

B.O.B.

There are many meanings behind the word BOB ...

It's someone's parent-given name ...

It's a verb ...

It was once my nickname in high school.

BOB - Bitch of Bitches ...

I don't know why I was thinking about that today ... but ... whatever ...

My friend 'Niffer summed it up best when she said that I hate the world, but the world loves me ... I find so much truth in that, and I think about it everyday.

*sigh*

Anyone know any other meanings of BOB ???

News of late ...

Well ... it's official ... my former beloved heart-throb, Johnny Damon, is the proud father of a little girl. Devon Rose Damon ...

*sigh*

Moving on ...

Hockey went well last night ... the ds's team won 8-1 !!! Way to go boys & girls !!! We have another game on Sunday ... so I am hoping for a nice big win there too !

I am thinking about chopping off my hair ... I am going to make an appointment for tomorrow ... I don't know what I am going to do ... just make it short is all ! I don't have time to do anything with it, so it has to be easy maintenance !

Oh ... yes ... and on this day in baseball:
1/5/93 - Reggie Jackson is the lone player elected to the Hall of Fame. Jackson, whose .262 lifetime batting average is the lowest of any outfielder in the Hall, receives 93.6% of the vote. Jackson's 563 career home runs make him a hit with voters in his first year of eligibility.

Hockey Night !

The ds has an away game tonight - I am a little nervous about going, because I have never been there before ... and I do NOT do well traveling in unknown territory alone, and especially at night ! I am "keeping the faith" and think everything will be fine ... GOOD LUCK TEAM !!!

Last night was a crazy one at our house ... just for the mere fact that the ds WOULD. NOT. LISTEN. It frustrates me to no end ... and when he continues to wake me up when I am sleeping ... for no reason other than to be a brat, which was the case ... then I am gonna be mad. I yelled at him last night, and now I feel bad ... but I stopped and bought him a doughnut and juice this morning as a special treat ... Sorry Sweet Boy ...

Well, let me not forget to mention that on this day, January 4th, 1957 - The Dodgers became the first team to own their own aircraft when the team bought a 44 passenger two-engine airplane for $775,000.

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

On this date in baseball ...

1.3.1920

The secret deal made on 12/26/20 to sell Babe Ruth to the MFY (New York Yankees) for $125,000 (twice the amount ever paid previously for a player) is announced publicly. Harry Frazee, the cash strapped owner of the Red Sox also secures a $300,000 loan from the Yankees.

*sigh*

I truly dislike the MFY's ...

I'm tired today ...

I would like to send a shoutout to my good buddy, JTT, for fixing my blog last night. The stupid profile & links section moved to the bottom ... all on it's own ... LOL !

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

LOL !!! HAHAHAHAHA !!!

When I need a good laugh, I love reading The Dugout !!!

Today, I went back a couple of days into the archive, and happened across this MFY funny !!! Darryl Strawberry Intervenes

I WANT THIS !!!!

I am going to a bowling tournament in March - well ... St Patricks Day ! We are all going to wear St Patty's Day hats ... and this is the one I want !!!

Day to Day ...

OK ... I am horrible at remembering things everyday ... and my great friend 'Niffer got me a Baseball Day to Day calendar ... to boost my memory !

******************************************************************************

So ... yesterdays - January 1st - in Baseball History: 1/1/1961

Briggs Stadium officially becomes Tiger Stadium

I also like the quote that goes with that sheet ...

John K. Hutchens, literary & drama critic:

"No baseball fan has to explain his mania to any other baseball fan. They are a fraternity. It is less easy, often it is hopeless, to try to explain it to anyone else. You grow technical, and you do not make any sense. You grow sentimental and you are deemed soft in the head."

*******************************************************************************
1/2/1918
The Dodgers trade outfielder Casey Stengel and infielder George Cutshaw to the Pirates for pitchers Burleigh Grimes, Al mamaux, and infielder Chuck Ward.

The quote that went with it reminds me of a beloved Red Sox'er ...

"Casey Stengel just can't keep from being Casey Stengel."
